23 Jan 2024 (All Day)

Registration for this event has passed

Organized by the Endangered Alphabets Project, the day is a time to celebrate the world's minority and indigenous scripts, each of which is a fascinating illustration of communal cultural design. Events include a wide variety of free online sessions on topics such as:

  • Type design and cultural authenticity
  • A keynote on language, script, and education revitalization in Bangladesh
  • How we can learn from Sikkim and its many scripts.
  • Challenges and lessons on script extinction and revival
  • Teaching an endangered script through massive open online course
  • Digitizing scripts for electronic devices
  • And much more! See the current events of the day and register free. (Look for the green button.)

Why January 23? That's a great question with an inspiring answer. We encourage you to read about it online.
