The Cumulus Budapest 2024 - P/REREFENCES OF DESIGN conference will be hosted in Budapest, Hungary and organized by Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design Budapest (MOME) between 15-17 May 2024.
The conference aims to explore contemporary design culture by examining its current tensions and parallels. Participants are encouraged to share their perspectives on the ongoing “revaluation of values” which concern established references and competing preferences in design. The conference will delve into various perspectives of strategic design, systems thinking, co-creation and more-than-human design. The event will also examine tensions and parallels that guide us towards contemporary practices which harness both human and machine creativity, and navigate the social, physical, and virtual realms of design.

Format
We welcome submissions that propose new, experimental formats that actively involve 15+ participants and let them come together and discuss, debate, play, paint, scratch, bend, tear apart, or X a specific topic. The format should be engaging, social, inclusive, cooperative and highly interactive. Some ideas for this include roundtable with a twist, link pong, wikisprint, games and prompt battles.
