DRS Conference Proceedings from 1962 to 1984  Now Available

DRS Conference Proceedings from 1962 to 1984 are now available on the DRS Digital Library. You can find proceedings from 1972-1981 here and materials from the 1962 conference, including proceedings and recordings of paper presentations, here. Below is a short summary of each of the available proceedings. 

The 1962 Conference on Design Methods proceedings were edited by J. Christopher Jones and D. G. Thornley and published in 1963. The conference was held on 19th to 21st September 1962 at the Department of Aeronautics, Imperial College, London. In addition to the proceedings, the Digital Library contains recordings and transcripts of papers presented at the conference, as well as a recording of the first DRS committee meeting.

The 1967 Design Methods in Architecture Symposium was organised by Geoffery Broadbent and Anthony Ward and held in Portsmouth, UK.

The 1971 conference titled 'Design Participation', took place in Manchester with proceedings edited by Nigel Cross.

The 1973 Design Activity International Conference was held jointly with the US Design Methods Group on 29-31 August 1973 at The Polytechnic of Central London, with proceedings edited by Tom Maver.

The 1976 conference 'Changing Design' was held in Portsmouth, UK, with proceedings edited by Barrie Evans, James Powell and Reg Talbot. 

The 1978  conference 'Architectural Design - Interrelations among theory, research and practice' was organised jointly by the DRS and the Faculty of Architecture of Istanbul Technical University and sponsored by Turkish National Council foir Scientific and Technical Research. The proceedings were edited by Nigan Bayazit and Mine Inceoglu. 

The 1980 conference 'Design: Science: Method' was held in Portsmouth with proceedings edited by Robin Jacques and James Powell. 

The 1984 conference, 'Design Roles UK' was held in Bath 21-24 September. Although we do not have the proceedings, the uploaded newsletter contains all of the abstracts of papers presented at the conference.
