Call from DRS to improve equity, diversity, and representation in academic design publishing

Are you concerned about structural disadvantages in design research publishing? The Design Research Society wants to hear from you!

At the DRS, we are committed to improving equity, diversity, and representation in academic design publishing. We recognize that structural barriers—geographic, linguistic, institutional, and economic—make it harder for many in our global community to publish and be recognized.

With our new journal Designing and the Digital Library, we’re working to change that. We’re especially eager to connect with authors and editors who:

  • Work in or support under-represented regions of the world
  • Publish with or for communities historically excluded from academic publishing
  • Contribute to open access or community-led journals

Dr Fernando Secomandi of the DRS International Advisory Council is leading this effort.
